I'm no expert but I could come take a look at it if you want? Sounds like the tbelt though.

Whats the scoop tonyloban? you still stuck? I think a that YES a video would help. I'm also pretty close by, and would be glad to try to help.

The way you describe it dying in traffic sounds like you have a bad Main Relay, but your car would still make a cranking noise when trying to start...Also if it was the Main Relay, the car might restart. Have you returned to the car to try to start it since it died?

If someone has the time to come by and check it out, text me at 206 681 8238.

I'm dead broke so I can't pay anyone for it.

I can't anymore today but I'm free tomorrow after 12 until 6 and Friday all day until 6. Sarurday most likely all day.

I haven't tried anything yet or even really looked because my mom is at the hospital right now and I've been really busy.

Has anyone tried banging on the tank with a hammer to see if the fuel pump is your issue? If not it's worth a shot, but yeah, if you aren't seeing the cam move, etc, i'm pretty sure your TB is busted!

                Tony,

When was the last maintenance done on the Timing Belt? R3V has a really good write up on changing that ... if I could do it you most certainly can.

Let me know if no one swings by ... I could possibly do it tomorrow.

If it was running when it died, it's not the starter. The starter is off when running.

                  My bet is timing belt.

I need to leave at like 6:40 tomorrow the latest. That should be plenty of time to check it out, right? I live really close to your work.

I already ordered all my parts for the timing belt from ecs two weeks ago but they went on back order. It's been 4 years and the timing belt is due for sure.

Btw, in case people didn't know, this guy on youtube makes videos about repairs and maintenance for e30s. He just a couple days ago did the timing belt video. There's officially a video for the timing belt now.

4 years seems like a stretch to wait for a timing belt! If those are on back order, why not call Blunttech or Gutenparts to get one quicker?

So it's the timing belt. Not going to ask questions here about next steps to not spam PNW.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions and help and a special thank you to iansane for coming over to check it out.

Sorry man. On the other hand, old bmws never die, they just get faster.
