    My DIY vinyl wrap

I decided to take the plunge and attempt to wrap my car. Prior to starting this project I had zero experience. The results thus far are far from perfect but I think it is turning out pretty good. If you get up close you can find lots of imperfections but from 10' it looks good.

I bought the vinyl from vvivid for something like $240 shipped. I selected a color, matte red, from their overstock inventory and used a coupon code to save some cash. I also bought a felt-wrapped squeegee and some 3M tape primer (buy this) for an extra $25.

On to the photos. I'll post more as I work my way through it.

Pros could do everything without any overlaps but I'm just not that good.

Pros can do better because they usually have 3 or 4 guys on it, looks good regardless. Not bad man, looks good for the $

Awesome work! I like the color, and the seams look like they blend in well.

The more wrap success stories I see, the more I think I am going to try this next time I need bodywork done.

            Well done.

            It certainly is an improvement!

Looks good! I've definitely seen worse from some who would call themselves "pros."

Thanks for the positive comments. I'm learning some tricks as I go along and will be redoing some sections if I have any material left. I live in Beaverton and am happy to offer help/tips to anyone who attempts this and is local.

How much do the 'pros' charge? i'm starting to wonder if my paint is beyond what can be fixed by a nice detail job

I actually did some on the PRO3 car, and once you start working with it, you learn some tricks. There was a few great vids on YouTube with some Pro tips that really helped with figuring out dealing with compound corners and what not. My work will never pass close inspection but from 30 feet away (the stands), nobody can tell!

I really want to wrap my car in anthracite metallic or some kind of pearl white.

I just finished my wrap, I made the "roof seem" at the bottom of the c pillar. So I used a 10 ft piece that covered both windshield and rear window. Used the extra pieces that covered the window for the sun roof panel.

You really learn a lot as you go. Make sure to use a good amount of primer around those widows so it doesn't peel back on you and don't be afraid to stretch and bens it!

Good job you'll be happy when it's over!!
