Success! I'm going forward with the 40' shipping container. It's in great condition, freshly painted and ventilated. Area is zoned industrial and I asked upfront about using it for business and car repair, landlord has no issue. Magnolia area of Seattle by the canal.

I'll be using the back third as an office and have the rest for shop/auto. Initially I'm building in some basic moveable ramps, if people do find it useful I'll continue looking into a proper lift. The structure of the container would easily do well for an engine hoist too.

Stoked! Looking to take possession on the 1st of the month. I'll rent out weekend days for shop use and weekdays are negotiable based on my schedule.

Keep us updated with how you outfit it, I am curious to see what it looks like when done.

Wow that is slick. I might be an early renter - I need a new clutch sooner as opposed to later.

Here she is: Container #4. Fresh marine paint coating on the outside. A bit rough on the inside but will clean up nice.

20A metered electrical from conduit between the containers.

The floors are rough but are 1-1/8" marine plywood (Apitong) that have a similar tone to mahogany.

This is as bad as the rust gets. Nothing a quick sand and paint can't fix for now.

Well THAT'S a clever idea! I used to drive right past that area every day.

How wide is that inside? Can you open the doors?

It's just over 7.5 ft wide, and the doors only constrain the opening by about an inch. The landlord suggests these are High Cube containers but I think they're too short for that. I haven't taken measurements myself yet but Wikipedia lists all the dimensions for a 40' container:

In what might be construed as a threadjack,
Robb Newby is looking at renting out space in Auburn-
look at the Pro3 facebook page thread, or

No affiliation, except that Robb is a fantastic welder who
did the cage in my car. And I like him. And his truck.

Way cool! Looks like he's offering a really good deal, but it's in Auburn and a year commitment. I'm curious to see how fast it's rented up. May have to drop him a line.

Pressure washed yesterday, looking noticably cleaner now.
