Would somebody who knows tell me why you would even start a swap on a 4 door in that bad of condition to start with.

          Excellent question as usual.

Perhaps to do a budget build? Oh wait, then it woudn't be worth $4500 would it?

Perhaps because the car was free... wait again, see point above.

hmm, I'm stumped on that one.

I just don't get it, I'm watching Jean collect parts for his swap, and as Jean does things he'll have at least 4k in parts when he throws it in the car but for a junk yard swap I'd say you could probably get everything needed to swap the 24 valve in the car for well under 2k, a weekends worth of work and that's it.

The only reason I could anybody buying that 4 door, is for the swap so you could put it in a better starter car.

Nah. If you use a G260 in good shape with a clutch in good shape, you can do the swap for around $1100. I did a swap with an M50, E36 G250, driveshaft, S3.25, for $1500 including a new M42 radiator, OE waterpump, t-stat, t-stat housing, on an M50 that puffed 190 psi on all six cylinders...

Yep, there was a time when the Corrado forum was the best subsection on the tex, I don't recognize hardly anybody in there anymore.

Exactly, my S50/ZF is at about $3k including motor, tranny, UUC Stage II flywheel/M5 clutch and other misc goodies. Took me an extended weekend to get it in and running.

$4500 is not out of line for an ASKING price. It's the way buying and selling work. If he was selling it for $2500, it's not like someone would show up with $3500.

I probably wouldn't buy it for $4500, but maybe I would consider it, if it had an M30b35...
For someone that doesn't have the ability, space, or time to do an M50 swap by themselves, this could be a good choice
