Might I suggest some remedial education,

I am getting desperate for campfire smoke and it is better at altitude... It's been way too long..

Yes to central locking. Mine is a '90 325iA. Not sure where the donor door came from. Also, not sure if this matters, but the driver's side lock was replaced a few years ago.

    That might actually be it.

He is kind of clueless with car stuff sometimes. And he is still driving. Although, if I buy the E30 from the 'rents, he will get my dad's old Merc (which my brother hates driving) and my dad will pick up a police interceptor.

Got the car back today, fixed that and another dent/scratch on the car. Got the door from a red car (can see a little bit of the paint where there is a little scratch inside the door). But I have this question. The old door, I could lock using the door, even when it was open. That way I didn't need to use the key to lock the car. Now it doesn't do that. What gives?
