If you aren't already, why don't you fellers plan on staying for at least one night. I think Abrams Creek and Fontana campground are open in mid April.. They are at each end of the dragon. Easy access for sure and would cut down the marathon mileage.

Fontana campground is right below the dam we go to. Super place to camp...
