Hey, any of you local guys want to get together in a few weeks/months and lend a hand with my 24v swap. Although id like to believe that my friends and i can do it alone, my knowlege of the E30 is minimal and it would be foolish to think we could do it alone. I have no problem providing beer/food for as many nights as it takes. Currently the car runs with the M42 but needs a kick in the ass.

Yup. With ample time, no one barking at us to get done and specially when we weren't the ones that fudged it up in the first place.

If you have all the parts together, we are reasonable on our rates, though, and have a fully equipped shop with fabrication equipment and best of all A LIFT!:D

Yeah, it lives there till I get my garage cleaned out. (2 kids and a wife that wont throw anything away)

I hope to finish the cosmetics in the next few months, I have new fenders, fiberglass doors, and a fiberglass bumper. when ever I get the money to paint she will be looking good. The drive line is all brand new

Where are you guys meeting and how often?

I'd love to come out and start learning new things about these cars.

I'm into photography as well so we can always set up new and different ideas for some shoots.

If so this is Hector, with the black cabrio, just picked up my first E30.

Yeah we need an early shell with no rust on the floorboards for Vedubin01's parts to go on. Even if we have to take the whole car to get it, that's fine as we will find a home for the rest of the stuff.

Well, it looks like I am doing the 885 head swap sooner than expected due to a blown HG Was driving home last night and noticed the temp guage was a little high, does it all the time and have to tap the dash for it to go back where the actual temp is, but instead of going to the middle, it went to max! I was actually on my street when it happened, so I pulled in the road in front of the house and smoke was billowing from the hood. The fan belt broke and the battery light didn't light up, so I had no idea. Tried to start it this morning and it's acting like it has no compression - DOH!

Waiting on the tow truck now to have it pulled to my shop and will start the swap. Have to pick up a side-exit water pump, but have a new timing belt, tensioner, HG, fresh i top end, crank sensor, ECU/harness etc, but I will need to get a tach is all. This sucks because I have about 5 885 cams that I was going to send over to my grinder for a re-grind before I did this, but since I have yet another spare 885 head, I will just have to build it with the new cam and swap the head out later - right now I just want to get the car back on the road. The wife drives the Excursion (four kids), so I will have to drive the PT Cruiser in the meantime, it's a pce of crap and doesn't have A/C

I'll take some pics as the swap happens, just don't know how the stroker will act with the long rear gears, guess I'll start looking around for a better ratio sooner than expected. My friend said he would trade his 4.10lsd for my 2.93lsd, but don't think I want to go that high since I do drive on the highway often.

Any questions about running 4.10 and a stroker? That is the set up on my car. Ist gear is useless, 2nd is bettter, I pretty much have a 3 speed using 3-4-5 which is nice. I bet 2nd would be fun with street tires. Seriously so long as you keep your foot out off the skinny pedal the car is fine.

And for whoever asked, i do live in boca but not under the rents roof anymore (thank god). It was fun free loading off them for 22 years but i, and they had enough of it lol.

I am in the process now of accumulating all the parts. Been hitting the junkyards pretty hard and talking to some people ive knows for a while in the business. I will keep you posted. And thanks for "almost" saying yes to helping out. Ill let you know when its ready. If anyone has a source for the parts i will need dont hesitate to send me in their direction.

Yeah, I can't live with a 3-4-5 car lol. I am on the highway way too much. I love the fact that the eta and long gears sees 80 in 3rd, 110 in 4th ;)

Well my head gasket wasn't blown, but the timing belt was hanging on by a thread so this isn't all that bad. Just wish i had the 270 cam already, now I'll have to re-pull the head later :(

Block is already prepped and everything has been cleaned my tank, would have had more done, but my son turned 7 today and we had his b-day party, and with Gordon stopping by, the late start was inevitable.

Guess it's a good thing the powder-coated valve covers and manifolds aren't selling that great, gives me a chance to put one of each on my car :D
