It's just a valid option, not definitive, but a good one.
Yeah, I can also confirm that about the Dragon. It's low speed, and only treacherous when you are overzealous with your right foot. Smaller cars are really a lot of fun on this route, because it is so tight (Hence why riders are so into it) Along with this, you can just go balls to the wall because of the possiblity of traffic ahead.

Something just came to mind this evening, which would be a cool venue...a Spec E30 race.

Ok, i've heard of spartanburg, SC. and VA (people can take the autotrain).

                Any other serious suggestions?
Who will organize the hotels if any?
When are we going to get serious about this as far as making reservations and a tally of who's going?

I looked up the auto-train. They jacked up their prices by a lot.... a fare is $700. I rather take my chances on the highway. My father used it when he picked up his bike in NH and said that the place where they put the cars in is borderline filthy, and that some "valet" has to drive your car in.

So f*ck that. I'm not trusting a lowered turbocharged car to a valet.

                    Just PM

When the decision is made on who, what, where & when I volunteer to help organize it. I have done events/meets before and it is a time consumer so putting together a group of 5 members will have the best results.

If you can help organize this please give me your "name" and I will start the list.

This can only happen after the members have chosen the destination. Based on the thread discussions I propose we pick 3 destinations and vote on them. This is probably going to be the hardest part of the whole thing.

If we'er looking to get as many people as possible to meet in one spot then it might be a good idea to do like some car clubs do for the NOPI Nationals.

Some car clubs have groups gather in a couple main locations and set a route that passes through other main "meet, greet, and jump in" locations or cities where other members can join in without driving all the way to the starting location. In the end they all end up in at the same place.

I would be willing to help organize the event as well here in East TN. Knoxville is close to the Dragon as well.

Now that I think about it.. The NOPI Nationals maybe something to think about since all we would have to do is organize the different runs across the country.

Technically we could even reserve place for r3v members only.

Umm, that is something I would definitely NOT be interested in doing.

Looking again at a map of the region(http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp...ate=tn&zipcode= zoom out for view), TN is quite central to many of our region's states. I think the fact that Chattanooga and Knoxville are both sizeable cities, and the Dragon is easily w/in driving distance of either, we should heavily consider this for the meet. http://www.tailofthedragon.com/

We can make it a 3 day weekend event, and again, the weather would be best in May/June or early September.

We can start a list now to see how many are interested, and this will help in determining hotels, camping, etc. I can definitely get Stephen to design and print the t-shirts for the event. As for sponsors, I don't know anything about that sort of thing so someone else can do this maybe. We will need some of the guys local to CHatt or KNox to help us decide a group meeting place large enough to handle the turnout.

That's a faaaaaaaar drive for anybody in the northeast.

I know it sounds stupid and defeats the purpose of this whole thread, but what about having 2 meets... Northeast and Southeast. Just at 2 different places, and perhaps at 2 different times... Let's face it. Having one central place is going to hinder Alot of 1 of those groups from going. If I am getting nervous about driving 13 hours from Upstate, NY, then I KNOW that most of the other northeasters will be very wary of driving an EXTRA 4 hrs bc they are much more north of me. As much as I want to have a meet with hundreds of guys, I can't drive 13 hrs each way just for a 3 day weekend. I think that alot of the NE guys would agree with me.

                              Just a thought...
