I think I ended up buying close to 2 full tanks last trip which included the round trip to the campsite and back home.

This year the campsite is a lot further away so I'm planning on close to 3 tanks.

For firewood each site needs to plan having about 15-20 seasoned logs per night. To conserve we can always try to group as many people as we can on each site. The weather will be in the mid to upper 30s at night so pack a winter sleeping bag and warm clothing.

Also, remember to bring extra fluids and tools for you car just in case. Check your spare tire to make sure it is road worthy and pack your GPRS walkie talkies.

RCWells - it would be awesome to see you there. I'll cook up a beer brat for ya!

Thanks to steve we now know that we can only put 1 tent on a site. So we need people to bring the biggest tents possible. Each site can have up to 4 people, and there are only 20 sites in the whole place. We think that we can reserve some sites for people that are coming up on friday and saturday. The ranger said that this time of year is busy for them and they don't know how many sites will be available.

                    IMPORTANT CHANGES!: NEW CAMPSITE INFO

After discussing it with some other member the official campground site for this rally has been changed to Julian Price Memorial Park in NC. It is a Federal Park located 28 miles east of Roan Mountain.

The main reasons for this change are the fact that Roan Mountain has only 20 sites of which many may already be taken. Also, after calling the Roan Mountain campground office and discussing the details with a hateful bitch of a woman I have the feeling our kind would not be welcome at their campground.

Sorry Halston, but it's not much further from the original site and there are more main roads leading to Julian Price so the trip should actually be faster for you.

Explore Julian Price Campground in Blue Ridge Parkway, North Carolina with Recreation.gov. Located along the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway in the lush green expanses of North Carolina, Julian Price Campground is a top destination for boating, hiking, fish

Sounds like a good plan Robert... I'm going to try and find out some more info tomorrow but the backup may turn out to be the best thing..

Well I hope we don't have to move. Only Blake and I are coming in a single e30 so we are doing our best.

Thursday night we won't be there till REALLY late. We roll out of Atlanta around 8pm.

Is it obvious like Look Rock when I get close where I am going?

It is just me and Blake in a single e30 and don't really want to be getting lost on a 5 hour trip up to Tenn :) Maybe someone has a basic 'once you get off the highway' directions? I have Google Maps print out as well as will have my Tom Tom but nice to have backup.

Will google map from one site to the other in case I run into a problem.

I just checked the current weather at Roan Mtn. TN; 48 and clear. Thursday forecast 76 high, 49 low, 20% chance of rain. That's an 80% chance it will not rain!

Damn Halston, that will put you at the site at 1AM. Do you want me to reserve a site for you like always?

The campground should be fairly easy to find especially if you have a nav unit.

I plan on arriving early Thursday before noon. If it looks like sites will fill up quick I will reserve some sites as soon as I arrive.

If only we had a group non-profit tax ID we could reserve a group campsite.
