meh. trans case had a crack in it, losing fluid. easier to just put another box in. so i had nelson @ bimmer doctor in hendersonville swap another one in. ended up being one damn expensive trans swap.

Bummer about the cracked case.. I was afraid something else had gone wrong. I did 98% of that swap, but wasnt there for ~3 hours one morning and someone else got in and buttoned a lot up.

Not familiar with Nelson. Why did it become so expensive? If you dont mind me asking..

parts & labor for 2 transmissions and 2 labors. given, the second time around wasn't as bad since the conversion was already done. i was pissed after i found out that case was cracked. it was driving so nicely. that trans was nicer than the one that is in it now. then the slave went out a few weeks ago. so that had to be redone too. but hey, i knew what i was signing up for with a 20 year old car. nelson is like the mad scientist of old bmw's. knows them inside & out. that's actually where i get most of the repairs done on the car. as odd as it sounds, its easier to get to than matthews or i'd have tc take care of it.

anywho, is there going to be a caravan up to v@v? and does anyone know who drives the white coupe with the M stripes painted down the middle around town? gave him the thumbs up on 485 tonight.

Haha that's Bob Shields and his track car. He owns a shop down in Rock Hill. He was at TC tonight showing off his M62 V8. It's a bit quicker than mine. We've both got 2.93 rear ends, but the extra torque under 3k rpm (and everywhere else) helps him out a lot. He went the extra mile with it and kept the A/C and P/S functioning.

Stop by and check it out in person sometime. We are probably going to corner-weigh his car and mine next Wednesday.

Yes, every Wednesday night. Maybe not this Wednesday because Dan is out of town, but Tom and I will probably stay late and host it anyway.

People will show up regardless, so we might as well be there. We spread the word that we were going to have an early evening this past Wednesday (closing up at 7) and we still had 30 people show up and we were open til 1 or so.

well when you get on 74 east from 485, go up to the first light, make a right, then go across some rail road tracks, then take the next right go to the dead end, then make a right and its that shop (with all the cars)
