You'll probably need something more substantial than me, but I'm running a stocker in my '86 without any issues.

stock pump is fine, just the fuel pressure regulator should be the question. But don't know if stock FPR is fine..

I'm running an in-tank walbro 255 in mine. I currently have a bad vette fpr in it and see 75psi at the rail. Switching it out for some sort of aeromotive regulator next week.

I found my BMW M60 runs much better with a Walbro 255 pump in place of the stock pump. After 30-60 min hard driving my car would stall due to lack of fuel pressure until the stock pump cooled.

with that aeromotive one replace the in tank pump? or is it just an additional one, kind of like a high pressure pump?

I will also be using the stock pump with a the Vette regulator/filter. Once the motor is broken in ill probably go with a Walbro 255 they cheap and near direct drop in for late models.

Define hard driving. I've driven my m60b44 for 3-4 hours straight, never had an issue with my new OEM stock pump. However, I've never taken mine on a track where it would see constant full throttle for 30+ minutes. Just curious what conditions you were in when your stock pump overheated.

If the thread starter is going to actually be running a 427 I really doubt a stock pump will be able to support it. Maybe I'm crazy.

Depending on heads, that could be a 550 - 650+ HP engine.

If it's a build that supports itbs on an LSx then I would hope it to be well, well north of that or the intake setup is just wasted. I'd be thinking at the bare minimum the newer 340 walbro or dual 255s. Just my WAG. I run a racetronix pump on my turbo'd LSx with 60lb injectors and the most I've seen is somewhere around ~80% duty cycle. No dyno sheet to back it up though.

I have a walbro 255 with my LS2. no issues. Stock FPR isn't even an option.

                              Status: HG repair. 488wtq though!
