Is this one for use with a e30 steering rack or for a e36 rack upgrade? I believe they're different right?

No different, just need non airbag equipped car or steering shaft to steering wheel.

Oh really? the AA ones work for both perfect!

The Vorshlag and Sikky ones both require you to specify e30 or e36 rack swap.
