It's been a while, but I have done a couple of the Randy Forbes reinforcement kits (once on a z3m, other on a 318ti), but you are correct from memory. You can either swap the reluctor from an e36 diff into the single ear case/carrier, or the second time around, I cut the e30 reluctor ears to e36 length and it worked fine (they have matching pulses per rev).
IME the speed sensor should match the donor carrier not the cover (in your case e30)..ie when we put a 3.46 torsen in the ETA we had to get a Z3 sensor.
Seat Shocks....I have passed the baton to John Christy from Ninestitch. Email John or Garrett at ninestitch1@gmail.com
Crap, didn't think about that . So the speed sensor doesn't transfer over , as in doesn't line up or ?
E30’s use large speed sensor rings
E34/36 uses small speed sensor ring
Z3m uses large speed sensor
Z3 non m uses small speed sensor
Z3m and e30 share offset of placement for large speedo ring cluster
E36 and z3 non m and E34 have covers with offset of sensor for small speed ring
Cutting down the larger ring works if you do not have a small speedo ring
For dual ear 188mm the most heavy duty mounting would be the e34 cover style; it has both alu and steel rear mounting and can take the euro e36m boomerang as well.
If you need a small speedo ring and feel like pressing it on I should have one spare you can have for the 3,46 I built years ago for your car
Thanks man! Ping me if you are ever in Sacramento and let's grab a beer , your diff still works great but I am a sucker for symmetry and although I recently added Garagistic 2nd mount I would like to switch to an oem dual ear rear cover .
