    Fuel Injectors

My E30 325i seems to be misfiring on Cylinder 6, so I decided to pull the injectors out since I had a few spare ones. Is this how injectors should normally look after 28 years? I'm unsure what the affect of the outside of an injector is filthy on the fuel system. Honestly unsure and was wondering to hear some input.

They look like they had a hard life. Maybe a lot of local driving, low speed, bumper to bumper traffic? If the injectors are that gunked up, you can bet the valves are probably similar.

Most of what you find in the junkyard looks worse...

...it's what's on the inside that matters.

The cleaning services are not expensive, and do work.

Yeah, mine look worse than that (way rustier) and it still ran on all cylinders. Clean them and see how they do. You can send them out to be cleaned and flow tested, or you can buy some cleaner, fuel line, and miscellaneous odds and ends and do it yourself. And if you really want to, you can clean off the rust and grime on the outside and paint them, too.

Don't matter whats on the outside. Only on the inside.
