m20b25 hose routing vs heater core

There's 2 hoses that go to the heater core at the firewall:

    1. 3-way hose from the coolant reservoir

    2. single hose from the cylinder head near the firewall

Which of these goes to the top connection on the heater core? I figure it matters because the HC valve wants pressure against it in a certain direction.

Thanks in advance for your help!

EDIT: 1991, and I'm eliminating the screwy coolant safety valve monstrosity thing that hangs in the middle of the hoses.

digger, I tried all the realoem diagrams, but it didn't clear things up. My hoses connect to the metal tubes from your link. Still appreciate the help though.

Upper heater hose goes to the 3 way bitch hose.

Lower heater hose goes to the back of the head.

Had the same question when I changed out my hoses and junked the recall safety valve.
