If you only mod the selector rod and not the shift carrier, the carrier will still be offset to the transmission. I could see that 10deg+the raised pivot from this shifter preventing you from getting...

I don't know why everyone chooses to eliminate the collapsing mechanism, but you can replace the guibo with a 1/8" "guibo" shaped piece of aluminum or steel.

Chop the front/rear bumpers, swing out spare on the back, winch on the front, chop the fenders for big tires, pop the rocker covers off in exchange for some rock sliders and you're basically done.

For me, repairing with that Valcas part is easier/cheaper than re-shelling the car.

Yeah the pad offset appears to be to accommodate a regrind cam, I assume the side profile difference of the pad vs the others should be consistent across the pad, but this would change the effective cam...

Yeah drilling bolts in general sucks, but once you yield/work harden them from install and then again snapping it off, it's going to be pretty crap to drill if it comes to that.
