Do they offer drop floorpans for the ND? I know they're popular for NA Miata folks who do track work.

No idea, but great idea if I were serious about one. I think if I bought one it would be too new for me to "ruin"

Nonsense. I'm helping to ruin a 2025 car, gunning for all the FWD records across the country.
A car is never too "new" to not make it satisfy you, whether that's adding a new radio or dropping the seat or installing a big turbo.
I've had to modify the floors of Miata's and Corvettes to get big guys into those. It's worth it.

Fair enough, but that's a full-ass racecar (and I love the ig updates on that project)

Part of it is also that it would be a street car, the wife would want to drive it, and she is 13" shorter than me.
Another part is that it would solidify it as a project, and that's basically the opposite of why I would buy a new(or new-ish) car. This is more what I mean when I say "ruin" lol

I also think of all those options, only a GR86 is something I would feel happy owning long-term (also I mentally cannot accept a convertible for some reason), so for whatever reason I'm thinking about resale on the Miata as well.

Brother in law is tracking his GR86 on weekends, he seems to be really enjoying it. I need to ask him if he misses his Elise.

GR86 can car obviously better than an Elise, and they use the backseat on occasion.

There are some parts I've never been able to find locally for my e30 and refuse to pay shipping for, and I think that makes me value disposability of the platform more than most?

Like with a GR86, there are a dozen of the first gen up at all times, or the current gen I can just walk into a dealer and buy a new one. Aftermarket is quite big and people drive them (other than like the 4 guys here who still drive their e30s, probably 90% are laid up in people's garages like mine...)
New enough that the more recent ones won't be completely rotten, aftermarket is good (and I assume reasonably cheap)

I think it would be a blast, but at the end of the day I have too many cars and I'm car-payment-averse... (7 now... still trending in the wrong direction and can't come to terms with getting rid of anything)
