Found a good and cheap socket available in stores for this application. It is a GearWrench 30 mm deep 12 point socket. It does not say it is thin wall, but it is. The part number is 80826. It cost me around $10 at Advance Auto. I believe Sears sells this brand also, so it should not be too difficult to source.
I did a bit of research, did not find this information previously. My apologies if this is a repost, but figured it would be worth mentioning for anyone else attempting this job.
I broke 3 other sockets on a very stubborn nut (even w/ applying heat, etc.), so this socket appears to be a quality piece, and much cheaper then the other specialty sockets that are not too readily available (facom, snap-on, etc.).
