I was hoping to pull back the boots of the connectors, look at the color ,then match it with the sensor ...ie, crankshaft, camshaft, idle sensor,etc....anyone know the color code for a m50 wiring harness??

Look in there for you car and engine, it'll list the wire colours for each sensor. Just have to do a bit of work.

Most of the connectors can only go to one thing. Is it vanos or NV?

it is a non-vanos 92' and harness is from a 92'e34..has more connections than my e36 does (my e36 harness is shot..looks like wires melted at the ECU side) the e34 harness has 4 3pins and 4 2pins for the area under intake..i looked at http://www.wedophones.com/Manuals/BM...g%20Manual.pdf

and only shows the pin # of related sensor to ecu

There will be one more connection on the e34 harness - for the oil pan sensor. Possibly a traction control connector as well, as I believe more 5er's came with ASC+T then 3ers.
