    Is my new camshaft defective?

Please tell me this is simply in some outer coating that is meant to wear off and that the cracks and pitting will go away? :(

    I know, probably not...

ive seen camshaft finished like that. cracks go away when it breaks in half;).

you should be asking who ever sold it to you and getting it replaced

Probably from World Pac, IMC, or SSF parts warehouse. So no matter who you order from (Blunt, IE, AutoAZ, BMA, Guten, anyone else) they would be suspect. Criminals and evil-doers all of them.

It was a febi stock spec cam shaft from Pelican parts. I know, not a site sponsor, but they've been treating me good for longer than I've been a part of this forum, so I'm gonna stick with them until they make a mistake. Maybe this will be their chance.

Probably just a bad batch? Even the best manufacturers make bad parts, their quality control is just really good. I'll still get another Febi can.

Update: Replacement camshaft was shipped overnight to me without any hassle, and arrived last week. It was also a Febi, but this take had no cracks and a much shinier finish. I'm thinking the first cam shaft I received should have failed all kinds of quality control and didn't.

Everything is now installed alongside the new rockers and the engine is humming all purdy like :)
