Introducing the GAS E3010 Vertical Mount

Some of you might have seen this on the GAS Facebook page lately. Here is the fully disclosed information for it.

It all started when I sold my iX and the original E3010 LukeBox in it. I missed it every single time I drove my E36 M3 and I bugged Luke monthly to start making E36 boxes. Well I'm done with the M3 and I have an S52 E30 DD now. It needed a LukeBox and I was browsing the local CList looking for an amp/woofer combo and I found a JL 10W7 with JL 500/1 for only $400!!! I immediately set up an appointment with the guy to give it a test run and it worked flawlessly.

I then started to talk to Luke about a custom enclosure for this monster and it took around six weeks to get to this point and I couldn't be happier. It blows the original E3010 out of the water. This box will also includes a modifier plate that screws onto the ski pass before installing the box. This plate seals the entire woofer and port area into the cabin.

Once I get my 24v A/C working I will be making a custom trunk floor panel and clean up the amplifier wiring at that point. I need a ski pass seat ASAP though, I cut the foam out around the ski pass hole and the amount of air this thing moves makes the leather snap like a snare drum. I currently don't have a seat back installed in my car. Anyways, onto the pictures...

For those that are curious why we built this gigantic beast, this is an ultra-high airflow box. Think of it like this: big HP requires bigger exhaust systems, but a 3" exhaust is wasted on a stock M20. This is intended for BIG woofers, mounting depth is up to 8.75" depth. Yes, it's huge and heavy, but it kills.

Let me break this down a bit: our normal E30 10" box is 1.35ish cubic feet, with 2 3" ports. That will produce a solid 125db @ 25hz consistently. In most cases, that means this box will run out of airflow right around the time a 300 to 500 watt amp runs out of power.

Each 3" port is 7 square inches, or a total of 14 square inches of port area.

This box is 20 square inches of port area. This means WAY higher performance capability.

This box won't run out of airflow until well over 140db. If you notice how well the ports are contoured, keep in mind they are 30" long each, meaning 5 feet of porting in each one. Typically, for "normal" airflow, this would easily support an 18" woofer. Using this much port area on a 10" woofer is just unheard of.

That means this box has well over double (!) the output capability of our E3010.

A typical 1200 mono amp on a DVC 2 ohm/coil woofer IDMax, TypeX, HCCA, W7 or even less expensive power monsters like the MT series from RE Audio (http://reaudio.com/woofers.php) running on a typical 1200 watt class D monoblock will make at least 20db more. Its a huge, massive difference, far more "loud" than even our 12" boxes.

We are shortly releasing a 12" version of this design, again with all of the port area and woofer all venting through the skipass.

So, if you want to do LOUD, like "stun low flying birds" loud, this will do it.

    Thanks!
    Luke

Looks awesome Luke!! I love the enclosure for my E39. I'm still tweaking my amp and headunit to get the most out of it. But it already sounds amazing. There is no doubt this beast will sound even more so!

BTW, I give you props on all the forums. Even recommending you to those that are unfamiliar with your work/company. That's how much I like your work. Keep it up.

      Thanks,
      Joe in NYC.

        Thanks, Joe!

We are training a new shop assistant. So far has a wicked aptitude and a great attitude, so hopefully soon we will be able to produce more product more quickly.

We will have boxes of this design for all chassis fairly soon but since these are so expensive, we don't expect to sell many. Next up is my own E34 box and I want a JBL GTi12, the crazy deep beast that it is.

Thanks for spreading the word for us, bud, it really does help.

        Luke

Careful with that thing, you don't want to set off a fault line and be responsible for half of WA falling into the Pacific!
