It has returned!
This cruise begins at 7:00pm on Saturday, May 14th. The road we take is Highway 39, a road we will find in Azusa. The road takes us from the foothills of the San Gabriel Mtns up to where it ends: 5,000 ft above the city lights.
Fingers crossed, it may be clear skies! Feast your eyes on the unseen stars hanging above the lights of Los Angeles. Hence, why this is called the Milky Way Cruise.
Disclaimer: It is a twisty road up. There are steep cliffs. This means no excess speed, no reckless driving, no canyon carving. We are cruising up, and cruising down. Safely. For those of you who have seen my car, you may remember it is bone-stock, with regular brakes, factory suspension, and cheap tires. I will be in front going at a reasonable pace. Unless your car is actually worse than mine, you will be fine. You and your passenger(s) can relax and enjoy the drive. If you want to go ahead of me, I won't stop you.
~~~
The marker on the map is the end of the road, at a cafe. We aren't eating there, as it will be closed. It's just a reference point. Note: we aren't going directly to the cafe. The road at the top will fork to the right, we continue straight.
Plain and simple: Drive up Hwy 39, eat, look at all those fucking stars you can't normally see from the city... and go back down. Got it? Good. Let's go.
Meeting Spot at 6:30pm.
100 W Foothill Blvd, Azusa, CA 91702
This address is for an AT&T store. There is an open public parking lot across the street. You can only enter from the driveway the arrow is pointing at.
We leave at 7:00. Plan accordingly. Be there by 6:30 with a full tank of gas and some munchies to snack on at the top!
Have fun!
