    Looking to sell S14 engine

My son in law is looking to sell an S14 engine that his father has as a project engine for 10+ years. He has recently passed and my son in law is in charge of selling his items. We know very little about the origin of the motor other than he bought it and had it shipped from Australia. He originally bought it to put into a 2002ti, but was never completed.
I don’t believe that the engine was a running removal, no accessories, fuel system or ECU or computer. Long block, M Power intake and Valve cover new ceramic coated exhaust manifold.

My son-in-law is not a car guy, so I am helping him out in selling it, I can provide as much information as possible, and can pull valve covers, oil pans etc, but I am not prepared to tear it down to answer questions. I am trying this forum first, my other options are BAT, or eBay but I don’t really want to go there unless I get no interest here.

I can provide photos including casting numbers in future posts if there is interest. The values of these engines varies greatly (obviously on condition) so still determining the asking price.

The engine is located in Saskatoon Saskatchewan.

Let me know if anyone is interested.

    Thanks
    Mark

i'm in regina, your market is gonna be US mostly. shipping cost will kill a lot of interest on an unknown engine. most guys are gonna assume it needs a full tear down and rebuild, which is not a cheap idea on an s14.
guys looking at engines want documentation from machine shops, bills for upgraded parts, and a dyno test sheet showing the health of the engine. without it the numbers tumble down pretty quick.

the last built s14 on BaT failed to get to its reserve based on that. it still commanded a healthy number though, just not what the seller would budge on.

it won't get as much interest in sask as there aren't many cars on the road around here for it to go into. i'd be interested, but not at all for the money you'd probably like. there is a cdn version of BaT, i'd probably start there.
alberta and bc have a lot more potential buyers than sask does.

edit: do you have details on the car it came out of ? vin number etc ? there can be issues shipping engines to the US if they can't trace the car it came from and how it got there. canada is similar so there would have been documentation to get it here and prove it wasn't from a stolen vehicle.

Post detailed photos so we can see what you have.

The engine is over at my son-in-law’s house, but I do have some photos of the casting #’s. I will go get some more photos of it and possibly pull the valve cover and pan to get a better idea of condition.
I think someone might be able to pick up a really good project engine, as without any information or documentation it will likely go for a good price.
I will post as soon as i get some more photos

there is a local saskatoon bmw guru / enthusiast who goes by chinny that would definitely look at it. you will get a better price in a wider market though.

edit: without documentation i'm not sure it can go over a border.

Is “Chinny” part of this group? I will try and compile as much information as I can about the engine, as I know anyone interested in it will certainly have questions.
If anyone knows how I can get ahold of Chinny, I would like to see if he can maybe come take a look at it and provide some guidance.
            Thanks
