    1991 325iX 5-speed coupe – Middlebury, VT -- $3500
    152,467 miles

After many years of happy 325iX ownership, I’ve made the decision to part with my 1991 iX. This car has been my daily driver since I bought it in 2016. There has never been a better snow car than this, and I have made full use of its stellar capabilities to drive to the ski slopes when blizzard conditions prompt weather forecasters to plead with drivers to stay off the roads. Those drivers don’t have this car. :-) It has also made many successful runs in the Vermont Winter Challenge rally, negotiating snow-covered back roads at a grin-inducing clip, with never a hiccup.

With all that said, the obvious concern will be rust, and while there is some rust appearing, it’s less than one might expect from a 32-year old Vermont car. This car was originally sold in Alaska (and still has the block heater to prove it), where I believe they don’t salt the roads like they do here. I bought it and moved it to Vermont in 2016, so it only has six Vermont winters under its wheels. Also, I had it undercoated yearly, which kept much (but not all) of the rust gremlins at bay.

    The good:
    • Working transfer case (jack test passed)
    • Engine runs well
    • 5-speed transmission
    • Many, many spare parts (almost a full car’s worth from parting out my previous iX)
    • Original 15” basketweaves with center caps
    • Set of Hakkapeliitta snow tires mounted on 14” bottlecap wheels
    • 13-button OBC
    • Replaced rear subframe bushings
    • Hella H4 headlights
    • Detailed repair records
    • Less rust than expected for a Vermont car with 150K miles
    The bad:
    • Car is out of alignment since I installed an adjustable rear subframe from Garagistic and then discovered how hard it is to adjust the rear toe. (The stock fixed subframe is still here if you want it.)
    • Right side valance needs straightening and reattaching
    • Some rust, mainly on left front fender and on muffler hangers
    • Driver’s seat leather upholstery is tearing

How is the underbody? Things like rear spring perches, floors, etc etc. The outside makes it look like the underside could be scary, but potentially not. Either way, the price reflects it, just trying to get an idea.

I should have included that in the description. The underbody is solid. It was coated with Fluid Film annually, which made a big difference. Floors and spring perches are sold. There was some rust, since repaired, in the bottom of the jack well in the trunk.

Hi Dave G! I'm local to you (Florence, VT) and would be interested in your spares and snow tires if you are willing to sell separate from your ix for sale (I already have one).
Also, who do you use for your undercoating?
        Thanks!
