wow, sorry as to any offence I have caused, it looks like everyone took this the wrong way, and then said what I was trying to say. Which is; you would be better off selling this on CL to some 16 year old and buying a delicious E30 to play with :)

I didn't take offense. I can't speak for the rest of the crowd though. To me what you want out of a car makes a difference in which one you buy. An e30 is not a car you buy if you need lots of room in the back seat.

Now add another 150hp to your 260hp number and see where you are as far as how the car drives. Sure a CL's engine can easily be built to to this power level with turbos and the engine itself will be docile but then try to launch it. A 400hp rear wheel drive car is much easier to set up and can better handle the power because you are not turning your drive wheels. At those levels most if not all fwd cars will be torque steering and breaking axles. Also when a rwd car is launched the physics do not work against you maintaining traction like they do in fwd. This is the reason fwd cars have to have pneumatic launch bars on the rear to hold the front of the car down. It takes a lot more hp for any rwd car to lift the front end off the ground and in the end if the tail is not scraping the ground traction and weight transfer are aided by the front end lifting to a certain extent at lower speeds.
And if you put jets on a penguin it will fly.

I do not disagree rear wheel drive is better for a sports car, I am just pointing out that there are many powerful fwd cars that don't have horrible torque steer The Mazda speed 3 for example.

I drove an Omni GLH-S Turbo in the 80s killed mustangs off the line but keeping it in it's lane was a chore.

My CLS has no perceptible TS nor do most current reasonably designed FWD cars

My mom's 07 TL torque steered a little bit in first or second gear, but it's nothing that would prevent me from buying one. In fact I'm hoping she upgrades in about a year so I can buy hers off of her for a nice daily driver. Now the new TL with 300 hp and awd has to be a fun car to drive.

To the OP: I recommend you just sell outright and find an e30 that you really want. If you were to get 5k for the prelude you will be able to find a nice e30 to play with. If I were you I'd try to find 2 or 3k more to find a nice s50 car. They are going for good prices nowadays. But no matter what you do, get one that is nearly flawless in the body/paint area. Everything else is an easy fix, but I despise body work.

I completey agree with everything you said in your post. AWD and 300 horsepower = fun, a lot of fun especially if the car is light but the TL would be good too.
