    PA - 1987 BMW 325is track car - $5k

For sale is my 1987 BMW 325is track car. I am the second owner, and built it for NASA TTD. It is also legal for EMRA ST3 and SCCA DP, and almost legal for Spece30.

The chassis has 280k miles on it. The engine, trans, and driveshaft have 99k, and are out of a 91 325ic. This was put in by myself in June of this year, and hasn't really been driven since. I put about 100 miles on it just to make sure it's running well, not leaking, etc... I put a new timing belt and water pump on it, as well as an IJ crank scraper, before installing it. Also adjusted the valves and put a new valve cover gasket on it.

The car is 2420lb with 1/2 tank of gas and no driver. With a 160lb driver, the car corner weighted 50%. F/R was 55/45%.

All front suspension wear parts were replaced with Lemforder parts within the past 5k miles. The guibo, CSB, timing belt, water pump cap/plugs/rotor etc... are also fairly new (less then 200 miles on the timing belt and water pump). It has a freshly resurfaced flywheel, Sachs clutch, new slave and master cylinder. Fluids have been Mobil 1 Synthetic and Redline since I bought it.

The interior is gutted, but the power sunroof is still in place and functional. It would not be out of the question to turn this car back into a street car at all. I have tons of stock e30 parts, I could probably do so if desired. The paint is nice underneath the decals. However, the headliner is removed, speakers/radio are removed, passenger seats are removed, rear parcel shelf is removed, etc...

The car ran 1:04's at Pocono North with a less-then-optimal-driver (that's me...). I also ran 1:29's at Summit Main, and 1:21's at NJMP Lightning. The car in it's current state ran a 14.6@92 MPH at Maple Grove (stock, it ran 15.4@88 ).

The car needs a full cage, fire system, spec legal exhaust, and some nets to be Spece30 legal. Suspension is ready to go. This was my intention, but realistically it won't happen anytime soon, and my priorities are changing.

    *PROBLEMS*
The hood has a crease right in the front, the PO drove into something. He also backed into something, as the rear tail panel has a dent. It's covered up with a decal currently.
There was a few spots of rust on the floorboard that I repaired. I am not a professional welder, so the results are not professional. If you use it as a track car, you won't care. If you use it as as a street car, you'll put a carpet over the floor.

The reason for the sale is because I really can't afford to use this car enough on the track to make it worth keeping, and I have other priorities.

Looking to sell or trade + cash for an X5 3.0i / 4.4i. Also selling a 97 Explorer XLT 5.0 V8 with 145k miles, and would be willing to trade either or both + cash for an X5.

    $5,000

***If you have thoughts on the price, please contact me via PM. This thread will not be a place to negotiate the price. If you are seriously interested, I am willing to take your thoughts into consideration. I do not NEED to sell this car, nor do I really even want to. If it doesn't sell, I'll keep it and track it when I can.***

                Bump.

I have parted out a couple of e30's, and still have huge shelves full of parts. Whoever buys this is welcome to whatever they want as far as spares and stuff (within reason, I obviously am not going to give you a free engine - but I will sell it to you dirt cheap!)

I had a question about the rust repair done. I did take photo's of one of the spots that was repaired - the passenger front jack point, right behind the front wheel. I cut the piece out of a parts car and welded it in place. As I said, it's not professional level work, but it's solid, looks decent, and shouldn't rust again. It's a track car, that's all that I needed.

                            Bump!

Got the X5 I was looking to trade for, this needs to go!

I have a V8 Explorer that's ready to tow this thing home if you want to keep it as a track rat! Or put an interior in it and make it an awesome daily driver!
