Do you have a picture of the accident? What maintenance have you done?
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

Any additional info about this car? Has anyone seen it in person?

I have seen it in person a couple times. The pictures are a pretty accurate representation of how it looks in person, actually it looks a little better in person. The paint shows well. Overall a pretty clean example, I can't comment on anything mechanical as I didn't inspect or ride in it. I see you are out of state. I would be happy to send you some mechanic recommendations for a mechanical inspection.

It is still available, and Ryan's description is accurate.
Anyone is welcome to come and see it/ test drive it.

                  BUYER BEWARE!

This car was professionally inspected today by Chris Keefer of La Jolla Independent in La Jolla, California. It requires thousands of dollars worth of mechanical and cosmetic repairs that are NOT indicated by the seller prior to inspection.

The VIN # of this vehicle is: WBABB2316NEC27397

1.) Convertible power top does not work
2.) Thermostat needs to be replaced
3.) Shocks need to be replaced
4.) Car needs to be entirely repainted
5.) Front seats need to be reupholstered
6.) Dash is bubbling in several places
7.) Front end frame still shows signs of impact from the accident
8.) All belts, hoses, and plugs desperately need to be replaced
9.) Suspension bushings need to be replaced
10.) Engine/transmission mounts need to be repaired or replaced

The above-mentioned issues are just a small list of the total work needed.

Furthermore, the photographs above and in the Craigslist advertisement DO NOT depict the car in its current state. La Jolla Independent used the words "very ratty" to describe this car today.

This car can also be regularly seen on the San Diego Craigslist.
The current ad link is: http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/cto/3702763568.html

PLEASE DO NOT FALL VICTIM TO THIS SELLER. ALWAYS HAVE A PPI PERFORMED!
If you have any questions whatsoever, please don't hesitate to PM me directly.

^ i once had a car inspected by Chris at La Jolla BMW, that guy knows his stuff. unlike most shops, he has an eye for body work so what he says is likely true. Chris saved me hundreds of dollars in travel costs when i did a prepaid PPI.

Mr. Wiggles, I wish I was just blowing smoke... but I'm not. If the car was even half as bad as it is, I'd be the new owner of an E30 right now.

Chris at La Jolla Independent came very highly recommended by a respected member of this forum. I understand Constantine may be a friend of yours, but the many prospective buyers that peruse this forum need to be aware of such a bad deal.

Either Constantine is a deceptive seller that is looking to take advantage of an unknowledgeable buyer, or he and his father, Igor (supposedly a BMW mechanic), know absolutely squat about cars. Either way, it's scary news.

BMWStephen, I couldn't be more pleased with my experience at La Jolla Independent. Chris is truly one of the few expert, honest BMW mechanics out there...

Anyone can pick a car apart. My power top hasn't worked in years. In fact I only know of one car where the top works flawlessly and that's because the owner had just repaired it. As far as suspension, etc goes, its a 25 year old car and the seller is asking $4500. Given the kit alone is worth $1500-2k, I think its priced accordingly. If the car needed nothing it probably would sell for more if sold at all.
                          It's not like he's asking 5 figures.
What did la Jolla say it was worth?

I understand getting a PPI yet the car is salvaged and at this price point for a reason. I know/knew this car from a few years back and it was always adult owned locally til the accident which was the front hood, core support and fender. Igor has never given me a reason to not trust him and always points out the reason the car is being sold for his price. That car was not "ratty" by any means. Could it use some work? Of course but, even clean title, low mile cars need some tlc.

I know that LJI knows there stuff and I believe in the work they put out but please be mindful and use some discretion when posting our findings.

Sorry to rant but all these guys are my friends.

                              E30 Mtech

I've seen this car in person and it's not ratty at all. It actually does look better in person. I'm Not bashing La Jolla Independent just stating the facts.
It's great that they told you it needed thousands of dollars worth of work which it doesn't unless you take it to a way over priced shop, which they are.
Clean Mtech 2 Verts go for 10+ and this ones priced at 5,500 so even if you had to put a couple grand into it according to la jolla bmw, well then I guess you would still be a head of buying another clean mtech for 10k if you can find one. Although if you can't work on your own cars then your gonna have a problem buying any 20+ year old e30 cause they all need a little work. My point is if you don't know what your talking about you shouldn't post it.
