Why am I selling: Since completion I've driven the car to work occasionally but mostly just around town. With house remodel commitments, family commitments and repairs/maintenance to my other vehicles it mostly sits in the garage. I'm looking to re-allocate funds and move this on to someone who can give it the attention it deserves.
Backstory: Car has lived in central mass since at least the 1999/2000 time frame I knew the 2 previous owners and bought the car in Feb of 2008 to fix up and use as a winter DD, I got the car running and went thru a lot of general maintenance items including a timing belt, starter, guibo, steering rack, wheel bearings, brakes, CV boots, I replaced a fender and re-painted the car black (from white). Over the 2008 Christmas holiday I was in an accident with it which damaged the drivers side quarter panel (guy blew a stop sign). I pulled the rocker/quarter panel and laid some primer/sealer down on the bodywork intending to satin-black the car after completing the S52 swap. In my opinion the chassis is very solid for a new england car. After completing the S52 swap I had some head/headgasket issues and ended up replacing the head with one I bought from MarkertMW. Since the new head went on in Feb 2013 the motor has been running very well, it has been compression and leak down tested by myself and a local shop since then and tests 100%.
325iX oil pan with front section of M50 pan welded on, aka a "frakenpan" on the iX forums
96+ M3 centered solid CAB (31129069035)
previous body damage to quarter and rocker outer panel winter of 08
pinch weld seam is straight with 4' straight edge
after body work
offset brake clevis for manual brake moment arm adjustment
VAC euro oil filter housing with oil cooler
The car is very presentable overall, items to note:
PPG sealed quarter panel area
some paint chips on the hood leading edge and a plasti-dip strip covering bodywork
paint chips on lower valance
dent in the RH fender
thanks for looking,
Mike
