12k is not ALL the money. Period. 12k is what he could get if he wanted to fire sale it. At $17900 the price was dreamy, but probably restricted interest to serious parties only. At 15900 I think he's in the right ball park. 14k-15k is the right money on this car all day long, and I think both buyer and seller should be happy at that price. Its not going to rocket up in appreciation, but the buyer won't lose money a few years from now if they decide to sell.
Keep in mind this isn't the "31k" mile 325iC that just popped up on your local craigslist, but somehow had 17k miles in 1994 and sure looks like it has over a 100k on it. This is truly one of the cleanest cars you will find. I think the exterior color may hold its value back a bit as well, but that's personal preference.
