BMW E30 EZ Electric Power Steering Conversion Kit

    *Pre-Order ends Friday!*
    Tired of traditional power steering?
Look no further! EZ Power Steering kit converts your traditional hydraulic power steering to electric!
You heard me! NO MORE POWER STEERING FLUID!

This conversion replaces your steering column in your non-airbag and airbag e30s!
Non-Airbag e30’s have it easy and it is almost a direct swap, besides having to swap over a few parts.
Airbag e30’s have a little bit more work to do as they will need parts from a non-airbag column to complete the swap. Airbag e30’s can swap in a non-airbag e30 column, it is a direct swap. (Hardware kit coming soon!)

*There will then be a TWO WEEK buffer period and orders should be shipped out by 03/07/2024*
*The goal is always to have them shipped out sooner!*

Looks like a nicely executed swap kit, but I've never heard any E30 owner even remotely wishing for electric steering. The slowness is easily remedied by swapping in a faster rack, and the feel is excellent. As for the leaks, BMW still hasn't learned how to build an engine that doesn't leak, so PS leaks are minor by comparison. :-)

I can see the logic of converting to electric steering if one does the Tesla-based EV kit for the E30, but otherwise... Not knocking your kit at all, just curious how many folks would want it. But then again, folks install air suspensions in E30s, so I guess to each his own. GLWS!

There's reasons. I'm going with electric steering, but with the electro-hydraulic pump approach.

My motivation is that even with an underdrive pulley and very low pressure regulator, my PS fluid temp was still approaching 280F at the track which was bad for the life of my rack, plus it was sucking extra power. Sure I could have added a cooler but that would be just one more piece of crap in my engine bay. With the pump back in the battery box I moved 12 lbs off the front and stuck it in the back. My only belt-driven accessory is now the alternator, it's pretty cool!

The only thing I would add to this kit would be a Z4 manual rack from the 2003-2008 era when they had a similar column electric boost system.

This isn't for everyone obviously, and not every use case makes sense for it... but companies/individuals that bring new or simply relatively different/unused products to the E30 community is a good thing.

I did quite a bit of digging on the product he is selling and I've found that other people in other older cars are using the same systems.

(Like some older 911's who use this to park/etc, then turn it off for driving most of the time).

Rage It Parts (Noah) has answered my countless questions via social media and has really put a good amount of time into his youtube videos.

I think while he is a noobie on the forum here, I think we'll see more of his stuff and more of him around.

===== PS: Noah - make a build thread here for your car(s).

The Z4 rack is an option to add on my website. Perfect combo which I am running on my personal car!

Bumping this because a friend just explained his electric steering swap in old American cars. Got me curious about the E30.
