M42 Downing Atlanta supercharger kit

Selling a full Downing Atlanta supercharger kit that I removed from an engine I purchased. The engine was removed from a 1993 E36 318i, but the kit will work on an E30 with slight modifications. Going off of photos of the kit when it was new, it is complete and ready to bolt on. This was a CARB-legal supercharger kit designed when these cars were new, that made more power than the M3. It was rated at 210hp with a stock ECU, but I an unsure of what power this made running the Haltech setup. If you hide the aftermarket ECU well enough, you might be able to get away with Smogging it even.

Comes with:

- supercharger and plenum
- throttle body and ICV
- diverter valve and hoses
- pulleys and brackets
- complete E36 engine harness with OEM ECU, Haltech piggyback ECU, Haltech ignition igniters
- E36 ribbed AC compressor and bracket
- ribbed crank pulley
- fuel rail with RC fuel injectors
- all hardware and gaskets


What it needs:

- some pulleys are a bit noisy
- supercharger rotors have some scratches and chipped teflon
- has been sitting for at least 6 years, probably more. The injectors might need to be cleaned
- missing the AFM adapter for the cone filter it came with (available on eBay for $24)

To install this kit in an E30, you will need to make or buy an adapter for C101 plug (same as an M50 swap), and replace your AC compressor with the supplied E36 bracket and compressor (this kit uses the AC pulley to drive the supercharger).

I was able to find the CARB EO for this kit on a Z3, cool to see that it basically didn't change the Smog numbers at all during the test

I don't see the thermostat housing/water outlet in the parts picture. Does it come with? (Looks like the CTS is installed there for the haltech?)

You're right, I totally forgot about that, but it will be included as well. The crank pulley and AC compressor aren't pictured either but are cleaned up and also included.

I was just told by someone that knows these kits that the pulley on the supercharger is much smaller than the one that came with the kit originally, so it will be making more boost than stock. How much more, I have no idea. I measured the OD of this pulley at 2 7/8"

It's a surface finishing process, cleaning and micropeening the substrate so it has a wonderful lustrous shine near as good as fresh cast aluminum while also being left with closed pores so it is less susceptible to staining or tarnishing.
