They make the springs go higher which lowers the body in relation to the wheel. You can cut the spring but risk changing the spring rate. You could also cut and reweld the towers higher but that's a lot of work. So the drop hats are an inexpensive way to lower the car a bit without any cutting. Now because the spring is then higher than the shock, you risk bottoming out sooner but we're only talking 1/2 inch or so. Shouldn't be an issue.

that makes sense... this might help ppl understand too... it allows #1 upper mount to sit lower in the spring/strut assy:

I might order a set too if my new susp. sits too high in the front.

Are you going to offer the 10mm hats by any chance?

i was only able to order one from a totally different source. that source isn't the best at responding to emails. i paid for one and its been shipped i think but i have not recieved it yet. i'm hoping it will show up soon. if it does i will let you know first and give you the chance to get it

i'm not to keen on the m3's as long as the upper spring plates are the same on m3's and non m3's then it will work. check the spring plate part number for an m3 and a regular e30 and if they're the same then id say yes. if they don't work i'll refund your money

They are all the same except for maybe the iX's.

Actually they do serve a purpose. But indeed it wont hurt to remove them.

Will these work with castor/camber plates?

If you're running the stock upper perch and obviously non coilover springs, probably.

Damn, these are cool! Too bad I already cut my Eibach race springs to "J-Stock" spec.
