That's known as the "Pyramid" radio that was used in 89 up I believe. You adjust things by sliding your finger in that slot IIRC. Since I know these were used in M3's, yeah I'd say they were one of the premium headunits.

I had that radio in my M-tech II. The finger slide adjustment was pretty cool. The lights illuminate as you slide your finger over them.sigpic
