Did the idiot that couldn't rememeber the obvious get fired. Damn seems to me it is pretty simple to balance tires lets see:
(1) remove rim and tire
(2) place rim and tire on machine
(3) balance
(4) put rim and tire back on car
(5) torque lug nuts
Yeppers too complex
I can't say how sorry I am.

Don't want to start a discussion here, but the "entire 4wd system" will not be damaged if towed on anything else other than a flat bed. Maybe the viscous coupling will get fried a bit. Also, it is an AWD by the way...Originally posted by bmwsmurfMake sure this gets towed on a flatbed or kiss the entire 4wd system goodnightComment

I can never get that straight (4wd versus AWD).Originally posted by alexDon't want to start a discussion here, but the "entire 4wd system" will not be damaged if towed on anything else other than a flat bed. Maybe the viscous coupling will get fried a bit. Also, it is an AWD by the way...
Anyway, I am not much of an expert, but all evidence points to the contrary of what you said.
Below is a direct quote from Jenny Morgan, a columnist for BMWCCA:
"If you have a 325iX, 88-91, automatic OR manual... NEVER NEVER NEVER tow with ANY other method than a flatbed.
The unequal rotation of the front to back if wheels are in the air, will destroy the transfer case, specifically the visco-clutch (a 1300.00 dollar part), in less than a minute. Guaranteed."
In addition, AAA tow drivers have also told me the same. In fact, they said that the next time I wanted a flatbed and not have to wait hours and have to callback 5 times because they kept sending a regular tow truck, is to just tell them I have a 4wd 325ix and that's the only way to get the flatbed out to me immediately.
Given the fragile nature of the ix transfer case and some of the related components, I wouldn't risk it...especially if you have to tow it for such long distances.
Maybe if you disconnect some of the drivetrain/axle components to isolate the moving wheels.
Granted.. if you just pull the car with all four wheels on the ground with neutral.. that may work. *shrug*
Good luck.Visit the 3 series heritage site (work in progress):

It's getting towed with a full 4 wheel trailer - don't worry. I don't mess around with stuff like that.Comment

I'm not saying you are wrong. I am saying you are perpetuating hearsay that gets additional detail every time it is recycled.Originally posted by bmwsmurfI can never get that straight (4wd versus AWD).

As you can see below factory manual mentions viscous coupling, not the TC either.
