Hi Greg, I have a big stereo but have not upgraded to a better alternator, should I get 2 gauge, or is that too much, and instead, maybe 4 gauge is best?"Wow. We're just blowing through nap time, aren't we?"

No, you want 2 gauge. This will transfer the most current from your alternator to the battery and electrical system.
Oem alternator or upgraded alternator, you will still benefit from 2AWG upgrade.
Difference of 2awg cable to OEM cable

Greg, I appear to have the kind of alternator that has the ground wire loomed in with all of the wires. Can you post a picture of where I should attach the new ground cable I bought, and should I mount it to the same nut as the engine ground wire? The wire seems pretty long for such a short distance.
Thanks,
Ryan A"Wow. We're just blowing through nap time, aren't we?"

Ryan,
The Engine to Chassis ground cable is mounted from the oil pan bolt to the frame rail on the drivers side. There is already a picture (last picture in original post) that shows the oil pan to frame rail mounting.
The ground for the starter is very short indeed but the starter also grounds through the mounting flange and mounting bolts of the starter itself. So only the alternator upgrade cables physically mounts to the starter.
Hope that clears things up.

So the longer alternator ground cable runs back to the starter? Sorry, I'm still a little confused."Wow. We're just blowing through nap time, aren't we?"
