I've had mine for 10 years easily. No visible problems. What does the service do, and is it worth it for a unit that seems healthy?

The service is like $299. After using this 1.7 V1 in my car, I never once felt it was not up to par to the best radar/laser detectors in the world. It performed flawlessly. I dont think its worth the extra 299 for the upgrade.
