List a transmission for sale stating its for an e30.
Someone buys it, though after you posted pics and pn's
Its possible he didn't see the later pics or pn's
Also possible he doesn't know what the correct pn's or pics of this transmission look like. So he's still taking your word its for an e30.
When he finds out its NOT a transmission for an e30 and wants a refund you choose to give him most but not all of his money back.
Can you please tell me how this makes sense?
You as the buyer have a right to correctly describe your product. This wasn't "not sure what this transmission is for" it was "dogleg for a BMW e30" which it wasn't. Regardless of pics or part numbers. Some people might not know what correct part numbers or; in some cases what a correct part might look like (not everyone is mechanically inclined and might not do the work themselves)
I sent you payment before I saw the part numbers and pictures you posted today. I'd like it if you refunded the money considering this is a Mercedes transmission that isn't even a 265/5 Getrag. The ratios aren't even the same. Why was this posted in an E30 board?
I mistakenly sold a getrag 265 thinking it was a dogleg to JimmyP for $1000. We agreed to meet up and exchange it. He gets home and after looking at says it's a standard box. Farg I say and two weeks later I venture out to re-exchange it. No qualms about gas money or time wasted. It was both of our faults and there were no hard feelings.
Again I posted the correction, actual part number and pictures for everyone to verify... BEFORE receiving payment... you neglected to quote that, but you were able to summize "it's clearly not... an e30 part" how's this possible? Oh I posted pics... Selective quotes, selective reading, great!
it sure doesn't look that way. it looks like he sent you a PM, then 7 hours later you posted pics, and then several hours after that (and he had assumedly already paid) he saw the pics and then said "WTF - that's not what you told me you were selling?"
you wouldn't normally assume that somebody said they were selling you a cart of apples, but really you were getting a bag of dogshit, and that the seller wasn't smart enough to tell the difference.
It's unfortunate... Never was there intent to mislead. We both needed to do a little better due diligence. Pics and part# were posted prior to payment. You received a refund less my expenses to retrieve it to deliver it to you, which you committed/agreed to, in my estimation fair. SMH
The part in bold. Is this what he agreed to when a refund was to be issued? Or is it going to be part of the price when he thought the trans was for an e30?
I'm trying to figure this all out, cause it's rubbing me the wrong way that business is being conducted on this forum, like this in this manner. (keeping money for the wrong part advertised)
And i already know you was on here veiwing this thread earlier, and i dont see a reply to what a mod (nando) put up.
If not, paypal will. You can do the right thing....and give a full refund....and we'll all applaud you for doing the right thing.....
I think its to late for that. Stigma has already been implanted.

Thanks George it's apparent you have experience in these matters here on r3v... Andrew decided to initiate the Paypal claim and enlist the forum emotions.

I don't claim to be the resident expert on transmissions but I'm certain there are ways to make things work that are not exactly for a specific car, 80% of this site is based on this premise.
I'm sure there will be no applause, nor am I looking for any, right or wrong. Once communication has broken down sometimes a party chooses an objective 3rd party is necessary as in this case. But you've already proclaimed me SOL. SMH
The part was in storage.
Seems like Andrew was just informing the community what kind of seller you are. Granted this should have been in the transaction feedback forum. Whether the difference is $5 for $500 is not the point. I'm sure George would have quoted the thread title if that was an option.
Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.
I dont understand why this was posted on a bmw forum when it could be posted easily on a MB forum without any issues. OP obviously knows (or really-really-really should know) what the item is for as OP owns the rare car its from.
Dog leggers are obscure objects and so are AMG 190 2.3-16V cars (the only USA market officially sold car I know off top of head that has a DOG-LEG); I don't think this is very difficult to vlad out this puzzle.
when dog-leg trans is brought up, the one and only car I think of (official usa sold car) is 2.3-16 Cosworth evolution Benz 190E
For the nominal $$ we're parsing hairs over, it is almost funny... But the juvenile r3v soap opera=priceless.
Thanks man... And to think I was going to drop it off and meet the guy Monday. But y'all wouldn't have known that...
In case you haven't gotten it through your skull, it's not about the amount, it's about the principle of trying to make someone else pay for your fuckup. Stop deflecting, nobody cares.
Let this be a lesson to you. The r3v marketplace is a community. Once you wrong one buyer, it becomes everyone's business.
