    FS: 97 Z3 alumium m52 block

    State: Kentucky
    Will Ship: Continental US Only
    Price: 350$

Was going to use this for my e30 IX but change of plans. Ive seen these go for more, send me some offers. Does need overbored along with timecerted head bolt threads. If interested I can get some pics up later this week. If interested can do the timecert job for you.

    Thanks,
    zach

You realize these are sleeved blocks and cannot be overbored right? IF you can find someone to resleeve it you're looking at $75-$90 per sleeve. Between that and the cost of a $225 timesert kit and labor it would be cheaper to purchase a block new from the dealer.

Hate to say it but you'll get more for that block in scrap metal.

This is correct, I would clean it and polish it to use for a glass topped table, would be sweet.

Incorrect. You can easily and safely go up to second over size. .020 inch. And also they offer over sized pistons for these motors from BMW and also other aluminum block sleeved motors (m54). Call around to company who have built race BMW aluminum block motors, they will give you the run down. ;)

In theory yes, IF you can find a machine shop willing to bore a steel sleeve aluminum block (I've yet to ever find one) then you could go with oversize pistons but that argument is even worse than a resleeve because now a buyer has to purchase 6 new .020 oversize pistons ($218/ea or $1308 total) and 6 oversize .020 rings ($85 per set / $510). Then an add $225 for a timesert kit (add machine time if you pay a machine shop to install them) and also the cost of boring the sleeves out ($40 cylinder / $240 total)

So your block for $350 + $2283 ($2633) will just get you started building the bottom end of a 2.8l M52 OR I could buy a complete running 3.2l S52 swap. Even if you bought the rebuild parts for half the above cost its not worth the gains.

Not trying to poop.. just put this into perspective for you or a potential buyer.

Cleaned up and properly converted to a table could actually make you more money on eBay.

Seriously, if it wasn't so far away I'd offer you $150 to make a table out of it, would look tits in my office.
