Apparently you missed the following:
"Yeah I noticed on my copy the serial code was hand written. This isnt going to be a problem when all of us try to register is it?"
"...they don't come with the actual OEM License sticker that accompanies a full OEM copy."
This is illegal. Furthermore, Selling OEM software is illegal ESPECIALLY when no license sticker is present to slap onto the intended machine. OEM versions of Microsoft Windows XP Pro can only be sold WITH a new PC period. End of story. A while back, OEM versions could be sold with any internal hardware components, but that is no longer the case.
Refer to: http://blogs.msdn.com/mssmallbiz/arc...07/461950.aspx
Specifically:
"4.1 We grant you a nonexclusive right to distribute an individual software license only with a fully assembled computer system. A "fully assembled computer system" means a computer system consisting of at least a central processing unit, a motherboard, a hard drive, a power supply, and a case."
The fact that he's writing down serials, is a pretty good sign that hes using his open license keys to sell copies of XP now. A matter of "oops...im out of my copies....but damn it sure is nice making 30 bucks a pop! Guess I'll just sell some XP coasters (Worth Pennies) with my Open Business License Key!" Ta DAH!
LIKE I SAID:
If you're going to purchase illegal software, you might as well NOT purchase it at all. In the eyes of microsoft, you're just as wrong EITHER WAY. Just because your key "works" and Automatic updates are fine and dandy doesnt mean your copy is legit. Until this guy bundles a Full Blown PC with his XP OEM copies you're all fools for paying 30$ in the first place.tasty

R3v wouldnt be the first set of forums to get shut down from allowing and hosting the selling of unauthorized copies of Windows either. Note how the big tech forums like HardOCP, PCperspective, amdmb, and dfistreet ALL have incredibly strict policies when it comes to even MENTIONING the sale of illegal software.
9 times out of 10, if it sounds too good to be true.....then well...you know. This doesnt fall in that lucky 10%. Its straight up wrong and everyone should feel foolish for contributing.
My advice: lock, close, cancel, delete this thread frome existance. Slap some policies in place when it comes to software piracy. Do whatever it takes. It sure would be a bummer for Matt to have to dish out full retail prices for each of the buyers on this board to Gates himself. You're probably thinking "Yea right" well...Yea....right....it can, will, and DOES happen all the time.
If you all want to obtain illegal software, I'd suggest doing it privately at least you'd have some leg to stand on if it came down to it -- Instead of publicly announcing "oh me oh me next"!
Whether or not ACHTUNG thinks its legit, is really a moot point. It's not, and nothing he can say can make it so.tasty
