                                        What's the measurement of the stock lever? Not sure what's in the car I just bought, could use some improvement.

                                            Mr2, i found out my car already had a z3 kit installed just by looking at the part number with the shift boot out, give that a try!

                                                If you look at his pictures you'll see that the OEM E30 shift lever has virtually no distance between the ball and the bottom section of the lever. Take a look at the other short shift levers and notice the difference.
