For awhile, not sure how long yet. I would get it directly from the battery if you're willing to run a wire that long.

You can't dim it by tapping into a lower voltage wire unfortunately. You can use a vinyl tint however. There was one guy who did in the GB thread. But honestly, after a week or so you'll be used to it. I don't even notice the brightness of it anymore.
