    Sorry for the late reply to your question, but the gauge should read LO as Todd mentioned.

      The right sender unit is in (for a long time now) but it still reads HI when dead cold. After a while it starts flashing HI (warning) then it starts reading LO for a short period before the numbers comes on.. my guess is HI up to around 28'c., flash HI 28-30'c, LO 30-32'c and then shows numbers from 32'c and up..

        Can you do a ground test on the oil temp sender for me?

        Connect a wire to the negative terminal of the battery and then touch it to the body of the temperature sender. Does the reading change?
