what is the best/easiest method for removal of the clear cover from the cluster? I'm planning some odometer gear surgery and am interested in adding some rings

also - replace or polish swirled cluster clear plastic cover?

To remove the clear cluster, I use a standard flat head around the perimeter. Take your time and be gentle. We're talking about 30 year old plastic so expect some to crack and break, you will not always be successful in removing it.

Good luck trying to find a clean non scratched cover, very hard to find one and you cannot buy new unless you buy a whole new housing also. We perform a high speed polish on the covers using techniques and products similar to polishing car paint.

Yes, the ABS and aluminum are shaped differently. ABS are more aggressive but very popular. All examples can be found at bavrest.com

These will definitely not take 10 days to install.
