Oh, so his 84 distributor won't work in my 85? Could I swap the pick up coil and make it work or is it more complicated than that?

They are all the same, i had to put a 85 dizzy into a 1982 320i e21.. worked perfect. Plus when stores sell them they include that its for 2002s up to 85 318i.

Now a lot of people will choose to use the signal jammers to help them and in fact there are many style of the signal blockers that are for sale in the market such as the mobile phone jammer, gps signal jammer, bluetooth blocker, jammer auto and so on online now.

is the edis module all that is needed to make the M10 run stand alone, without the ECU or distributor?

No, you have to run EDIS with megasquirt. Edis is only for ignition.

Did you put a vacuum gauge on it? Because it's not holding vacuum at all. I double checked with two gauges and against my old one and this one doesn't even register any vacuum.

Hrm, distributor didn't work. Fiddled around a bunch and wouldn't even tick over. Put the old one back in and it fired right up.

There are differences, the 85 had a ground terminal coming off the side (wasn't hooked to anything) and the 84 had a different pickup coil plug with a different retention clip / screw setup. It made contact, was snug, but wasn't mechanically held in. I tested the coil with a meter and it sits about 1k ohms and drops out when it passes the (i'm guessing) magnet every 1/4 turn. Didn't test my old one, just wanted to get my car running and home safely.

In addition to that not working, the 84 had a lot more up down shaft play than my 85. It was a millimeter vs 3 millimeters. Doesn't sound like much but it is when you have them side by side.. Part numbers are different too, but the all powerful internet says they're compatible, and not compatible. Good grief.

It's a tough old gal, I doubt shipping broke the vacuum diaphragm and wore out the bearings/seals. Shipping did crush the little plastic cover inside, but I just used mine.

Im 17, Have school, and a horrible memory. i dont scam, but i do take awhile to ship some things. Those headers wouldnt come apart for the longest time. and the day i shipped them i spent even more just to get a bigger box...
