how does it install, what if you have the console that has the cassette tape holder?

This will be a hot item for sure. Great Marketing and looks to be a Great Product at a very competitive price compared to other similar cup holders.
I may be placing an order, although I don't usually drink in my e30.

Thanks so much for the question, and this looks like a good thing for an FAQ and maybe another video. :) One of the key design considerations I had when I made this is absolute ease of installation.

It has a foam backed automotive-grade tape on 5 spots in the base, which comes shipped with the backing still in place. So it stays in place in one of two ways:

1) Just drop it in and it will press fit. It is very very secure this way. I've been testing it in spirited drives on twistys with a Nalgene and Super Big Gulp both totally loaded and just press fit, and it stays totally put.
2) Take off the backing on the tape, and the installation is then semi-permanent. The top removes from the bottom after removing two screws to allow taking off the bottom without damaging anything should you sell the car and decide to keep the cupholder.

I'll see if I can mount up a camera and do a one-take video with mounting the cupholder using the "just drop it in" method with some big full cups and go find some twisty roads or even an autocross to drive. Great idea for another promo video. Thanks!

I would highly suggest making some holes through the base of the large cup bottom that allows you to bolt it to the console. Other than that this is gorgeous! amazing work.
