I believe it should be a torsen type differential, too. 98-02 Z3 2.8/3.0 had them.

More than likely it is a Salisbury clutch type LSD if it is out of a '97. I have a 4.10 and a 3.15 both from '97 2.8 cars and they are both clutch type. Internet lore says a '97 could have either type but so far I have only seen clutch type on all of the pre 98MY 2.8's.

Only way to tell without removing the cover is to spin the input shaft and see which direction the output shafts turn. A torsen will seem like an open diff with both output shafts turning opposite directions, clutch-type will turn the same way.

Really solid deal here on these parts - GLWS!

It's not. It's a single VANOS M52 Aluminum block from a 97. M52TU didn't come out until later. I'll see if I have a pic of the valve cover/front of the head.

For those asking, the pic above shows the wiring harness with relays, diagnostic connector, and all the accessories on the motor. It has the PS pump, alternator, thermostat housing, AC bracket (no condenser), and all the pulleys and idlers. The stock oil filter housing is also attached. I have a flywheel for it as well as the clutch that came off the car.

Hi, while I've gotten a lot of questions, no deals yet. I would entertain a package deal and discount for anyone interested.
