More than likely it is a Salisbury clutch type LSD if it is out of a '97. I have a 4.10 and a 3.15 both from '97 2.8 cars and they are both clutch type. Internet lore says a '97 could have either type but so far I have only seen clutch type on all of the pre 98MY 2.8's.

Turns out it was a “Motorsport” 4-clutch LSD. We opened it up and saw the S40 and S25 markings, indicating 40% lock-up on acceleration, and 25% lock-up decceration.
