Nice one, super rare "5 speed manual" in the performance packageComment

i think that kit was added. I always thought there was only white and silver tech2 convertibles in the states. Didnt they also only come in automatic?Comment

You are a victim of false information - go here & read about the M-Tec
from the generally accepted source of correct info on these rare cars.

No, M technic cabs were only sterling silver, macao blue, and misano? red here in the US. The white cabbys that everyone likes to refer to as "M tech" cabbies are actually 325iC's with M technic appearance package. It seems most were automatic but there are a few 5 speeds out there. Strange thing about this car on ebay is that it is missing the "BMW M technic" front and rear badges and has a "325i" rear badge instead like the appearance package cars except this one has the proper color, interior, door sills, etc. It looks like a real one though.
Good info here: http://e30ic.com/M-technic.htm
I was just looking at buying one but decided everything that makes it so special could be had for less money. Those white M tech appearance package cars are more plentiful, so if I wanted a cab for the body kit, and didn't mind not having the stock M technic suspension (likely changed out anyway), door sills, leather center console and interior, why pay a premium for a genuine M technic cab? Of course it's rare, but only a few enthusiasts know what they are looking at."I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj

I have seen this car driving around town a few times. It is fairly clean, never got too close to it. I live in the same town, so if anyone wants an PPI on it, please contact me and I can perform it for you.'88 M3.2 S54 Lachssilber/Black

Yes - the cabrio has more body flex & cowl shimmy than the coupe, thus the reinforced shock towers & the reinforcement below the doors between the wheels & a weight in the trunk for balance & to prevent harmonics (so I am told).Last edited by cactusjacks1; 02-05-2009, 06:41 PM.[IComment

Barry - ran the vin # through BMW & it is a real M-Tech car with the code #771 "M Technic Luxusausstattung" option ($4700) on the build sheet. No, M technic cabs were only sterling silver, macao blue, and misano? red here in the US. Nice car. I noticed this too. Seller states that the car was painted 3 years ago. Maybe the body shop lost the badges? Those M Technic badges are NLA and made out of unobtanium. The shop probably couldn't get them and the owner opted to have the "325i" instead of a naked, de-badged car?? Just speculation of course.Strange thing about this car on ebay is that it is missing the "BMW M technic" front and rear badges and has a "325i" rear badge instead like the appearance package cars except this one has the proper color, interior, door sills, etc. It looks like a real one though.
I wonder what it will bring at auction? Any one care to guess? 175K is a lot of miles for a top dollar E30 like this guys "appraisal" would imply he is looking for. You can buy a nice E30 M3 with less miles for similar money. I know the M Technic is rarer, but not neccessarily more desireable by enthusiasts who will ultimately set the market value....
I am subscribed to this thread and will keep an eye on the auction!
I wonder how good that paint job is up close and in person. Pics look good, but you never know....Comment
