WTB: Medium case 4.27 LSD for e30

Looking for a medium case (188mm) 4.27 LSD for an e30 racecar upgrade. Or possibly a medium case 4.45 LSD. Let me know if you have one or any idea where I might find one. Thanks!

Thanks, and will do. Been through this with past WTBs unfortunately.

you can build them if you have a 188mm donor box, source an ls unit, and the gears separate. pinion seal and crush sleeve are the only difficult bits, had a transmission shop install those for me in the past.

I know its not the ratio you asked for, but have a 4.10 limited slip from a 91 auto parts car that i parted out that got hit in the front, that had 143k on the odometer.

Thanks 82eye, that is "plan B" if already built option doesn't turn up. Where did you source the gearset, Diffsonline?

Flash, thanks for the offer. Appreciate it but I am good on 4.10s. I have an old Metric Mechanic built 4.10 LSD in the car now, and a spare 4.10 LSD I picked up a few years ago with about 160k on it.

i actually mixed and matched between 2 diffs to get a 3:73 ls in the end. i had to get a shop to do the pinion and crush sleeve. there are a few sources for gearsets but diffsonline seems to be best known.

edit: fyi - the ls out of the 4:10 from the auto is the correct size if you re-gear it. i sourced my ls from the same diff.

no worries. if you go this way you'll wanna use the 4:10 as the donor diff, you'll need a deflection gauge to set lash, and make sure to save the shims and re-use them on the sides they came off. if lash doesn't work out you might have to juggle some shims to get it in spec.

make sure to rebuild the ls unit while it's out, you can either go stock or increase lock up. there's a few mods you can do on the ls itself depending on your goals.

edit: crush sleeve and pinion seal can be a bitch if you don't have the tools for it. i had to get a shop for those. a local transmission shop had no problems with it, and it saved me buying an expensive tool for pinion bearing pre-load.

at the time i sourced parts through thayer motorsport, but i think they've been absorbed by another supplier.
