Truth is, it's really damned handy to have. Not so much as a party toy (although I'm sure it would be fun for that... "miss, can I put this down your pants..") but as an inspection tool.

The tip is steered in both axis by the two knobs so you can point and scan with great precision. Good enough for doctors to do surgery, good enough to snake down your spark plug hole and have a good look around. It will look back 180 degrees at the hole it came down. Insert into walls. Look into voids. Find dropped parts behind your starter. etc. etc.

There about two hundred of those on the wall down the hall in the GI lab here at work. I never really thought about using them for work on the car but I could see the uses. I can't tell if that is an endoscope or a colonoscope from the pics. It does look like it has the connectors for an old analog monitor though.
